The Joys Of Jet-Lag

We arrived in Rome around 11am on Friday, July 13. We took the Fiumicino Express to Termini station and then took a taxi to our hotel. Fortunately, we were able to check-in right away. We got to our room and slept until about 7pm. We went out for dinner and fell asleep again around midnight.

We woke up around 6:30 on Saturday morning and had breakfast at the hotel. We got to the ship around 9:30am and finished work around noon. We decided to eat lunch in Civitavechia before going back to Rome. The food was amazing, and so much cheaper than in the city. I ate gnocchi pomodoro and Kevin ate a pizza that was 3 times bigger than his head! It was delicious! We got back to the hotel around 3pm and just hung out. It was so hot outside that we decided to stay in the air-conditioned hotel room instead of walking around the city. We took a short nap and went out for dinner around 10pm. We had incredible salads and a baked potato and crashed around midnight.

One of my favorite parts of visiting Italy...the Scrumptious food!

Th biggest "individual" pizza I have ever seen. Also one of the tastiest!

We woke up at 4:30 for our 7am flight. None of the public transportation runs that early in the morning, so we arranged for a taxi. The taxi was supposed to pick us up at 5:00am but didn't get to the hotel until 5:30. I was starting to panic about missing our flight. We got to the airport just after 6:00am and there was no line to check-in or for security!! We were at our gate 20 minutes after arriving at the airport! We flew non-stop to Barcelona and landed around 9am.

We arrived in Barcelona around 9 am on Sunday, July 15. We took the free hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel and were unfortunately unable to check-in so early. We considered going straight into the city, but opted to eat breakfast at the hotel first. We hung around the hotel for a few hours and were able to check-in to our room around noon. We were exhausted after getting up so early so we took a nap. Our nap ended up lasting until about 5pm, and we therefore missed the free hotel shuttle into the city. We knew we needed to eat something for dinner and neither of the hotel restaurant menus sounded appealing, so we ordered room service! This is something we really don't do too often so it was a very nice treat! We ended up falling asleep around 11pm.

Our room service set up!

We woke up bright and early on Monday morning and ate breakfast. We took the crew shuttle to the ship at 8:15 am and were finished work around 11:00. We made arrangements to meet the sports supervisor for drinks and lunch at our favorite pub, but he never showed up. We however still enjoyed ourselves! We took a taxi back to the hotel around 2:00 and took another nap. We woke up around 4:30 and went back into the city. We did some shopping, had some drinks and grabbed dinner, before going back to the hotel at 8:15pm. We packed our things for our flight to Athens the next morning, and went to bed around 11.

They say if you drink from this fountain on La Rambla you will return to Barcelona. My pout pout face exists because I couldn't figure out how to turn it on. Fortunately a kind local helped me figure it out and I was able to take a sip.
